Create a calmer, more restful space by streamlining your linen cupboard
If You Have 5 Minutes
Quick check: Open your linen cupboard or bedding drawer and pull out any sheets or pillowcases that are clearly worn, stained, or no longer used. Set them aside for recycling or donation.
Match sets: Make sure duvet covers, fitted sheets, and pillowcases are stored together as complete sets to make life easier when changing the bed.
If You Have 30 Minutes
Sort by type: Take everything out and group by category—single, double, king, guest bedding, and so on. Keep only what fits the beds you actually have.
Assess quantity: Aim for two to three sets per bed. Extras often go unused and take up space. Decide what to keep, donate, or repurpose (old sheets make great cleaning cloths or dust covers).
Fold and organise: Neatly fold sets and store them inside one of the pillowcases to keep things tidy and easy to grab.
If You Have Longer
Declutter extras: Go through items like mattress protectors, throws, and blankets. Keep only what you use and love. Donate anything in good condition and recycle what’s worn out.
Review guest bedding: If you have bedding for guests, make sure it’s clean, complete, and stored somewhere accessible. Let go of anything that’s surplus or unused.
Freshen up: While you’re at it, wipe down shelves or drawers and add a lavender sachet or bar of soap to keep linens smelling fresh.
This Week’s Challenge:
Declutter five bedding items you no longer use, need, or love. Enjoy the extra space and the ease of knowing exactly where everything is.
