If You Have 5 Minutes
Quick scan: Walk through one room and look at the surfaces. Are there candles or ornaments you no longer notice, use, or love? Remove one or two to reassess later.
Half-used candles: Identify any candles that are nearly finished, dusty, or scentless. If you're not planning to use them soon, it's time to let them go.
If You Have 30 Minutes
Group and assess: Gather all candles and decorative items in one space. Group by type—tea lights, jars, figurines, vases—and decide what still suits your taste and home.
Seasonal sort: Separate everyday decor from seasonal pieces. Store seasonal items together and neatly label the box for easy access next year.
If You Have Longer
Create breathing room: Reimagine your shelves, mantels, or coffee tables with fewer decorative items. Choose a few meaningful pieces and pack away or donate the rest.
Check condition: Toss broken ornaments, wax-damaged holders, or items that have lost their charm. Candles past their best can be melted down or recycled if suitable.
This Week’s Challenge:
Declutter five candles or ornaments that no longer reflect your style or serve a purpose. Enjoy the calm that comes with a more considered space.
