Create space, reduce clutter, and keep only what supports your active lifestyle
Welcome to this week's newsletter. This week we are sorting and decluttering sports equipment. This might be small things like cycling gloves or yoga equipment, or it could be bigger things like bikes and climbing equipment. Remember to only keep what you use. Everything else is just taking up precious space.
Happy decluttering!
If You Have 5 Minutes
Quick glance: Walk through your garage, cupboard, or wherever you store your gear. Pull out one or two items you haven’t used in ages or that are clearly worn out.
Pair it up: Match stray balls, gloves, or accessories. If parts are missing, set them aside to repair, replace, or recycle.
If You Have 30 Minutes
Sort by activity: Group equipment by sport—cycling, yoga, football, gym, etc. This helps you see duplicates and what’s no longer relevant.
Be realistic: Ask yourself: Do I still do this activity? Does this item still fit, work, or serve a purpose? Let go of what you’ve outgrown—physically or interest-wise.
Organise what’s left: Use labelled bins, hooks, or shelves to store gear neatly and keep frequently used items within easy reach.
If You Have Longer
Test and clean: Check that everything still works—inflate balls, test bike pumps, clean yoga mats, and check safety gear like helmets. Discard anything that’s unsafe or no longer usable.
Pass it on: Donate or sell equipment in good condition that you no longer need. Schools, youth clubs, and community groups often welcome gently used gear.
Plan ahead: Make a list of any missing or broken items you still use regularly and only replace what’s truly needed.
This Week’s Challenge:
Declutter three pieces of sports equipment you no longer use. Enjoy the space and the focus that comes from having only what supports your current routine.
