Jobs for the Week - Kids Toys

You may have seen the post going around on social media about charity shops asking for toy donations before rather than after Christmas. Because of this, I am making kids toys this week's job.

If you don't have young kids, don't think you're getting a week off. I'd like you to go back and tackle a previous week's job. I will be uploading all the previous 'jobs for the week' on to the blog section of my website this week.

As always, let me know how you get on and also let me know if you have any requests for future weeks.

If you have 5 minutes...

Do a 5 minute tidy. Get the kids involved if they are old enough. Simply set a timer for 5 minutes and get as much tidying up done as possible. Repeat this throughout the week.

If you have 30 minutes...

Choose a category of toy (soft toys, lego, cars, etc.) and declutter them. Involve the children if they are an appropriate age. Get rid of anything they have outgrown or no longer play with.

This is a great time of year to sell unwanted toys either via Ebay, Vinted, Facebook Marketplace or any other selling sites. Donate any good quality toys you don't want to sell. Recycle what you can if they are broken or poor quality.

If you have longer...

As above, but tackle more categories. If you are involving your children, explain that you are making room for more toys coming from Santa and family. Also explain that the donated toys will be going to other children to love and play with.

Avoid forcing your children to get rid of things. Allow them as much authority as you can over decisions and help them see the benefits of decluttering.
